Lee Joon Hyuk is taking on a surprisingly relatable role in the upcoming office drama “Lucky Lotto Winner Goes to Work.”
The TVING series follows Gong Eun Tae, a team leader who has grown exhausted from the pressures of everyday corporate life. His life takes an unexpected turn when he wins the lottery and suddenly finds himself holding a prize worth 1.3 billion won.
But instead of immediately quitting his job, Eun Tae chooses to keep going to work with a completely different mindset.
The story combines the familiar struggles of Korean office workers with the fantasy of suddenly becoming a lottery millionaire, creating a workplace comedy that explores what people might actually do if their biggest financial worries suddenly disappeared.
Lee Joon Hyuk has said that he sees several similarities between himself and Gong Eun Tae. Both have spent years focusing on one path and continuing to work toward their goals.
Since making his acting debut in 2006, Lee has steadily built an impressive career, appearing in nearly 50 productions over the years.
During the drama’s press conference, the actor explained that he often wonders whether one successful project could completely change his life. However, he believes reality is usually different.
“I think actors sometimes wonder if one project could suddenly change their lives. But in reality, you still have to keep working,” Lee Joon Hyuk said.
He also revealed why he connected so strongly with Eun Tae.
“What I related to most was that Eun Tae genuinely likes his job. I think I like what I do as well,” the actor explained. “Because we enjoy our work, we keep going and continue to put in the effort. Even if I won the lottery or experienced something unbelievable, I think I would probably still be doing this job.”
In the drama, Lee Joon Hyuk gradually shifts from portraying the repetitive routine of everyday office life to capturing the frustrations of corporate culture and, eventually, the excitement of winning the lottery.
His performance is expected to balance subtle emotional changes with comedy as Gong Eun Tae navigates his extraordinary new circumstances while continuing to live an ordinary working life.
“Lucky Lotto Winner Goes to Work” will be available exclusively on TVING every Thursday at 6 p.m. ahead of its television broadcast.
The drama will premiere on tvN on September 14 at 9 p.m. and will air every Monday and Tuesday at the same time.
