Former BIGBANG member Seungri is facing allegations of assault and threats after CCTV footage from an incident at a restaurant in Seoul was publicly released.
According to a report by JTBC on September 23, CCTV footage captured an altercation involving Seungri and a man in his 30s at a restaurant in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul, last month.
The footage reportedly shows the man sitting at a table while Seungri and two other men stand around him. At one point, Seungri appears to pick up a soju bottle from the table and raise his arm, while people nearby attempt to stop him.
The footage also appears to show Seungri making a kicking motion. A short time later, he is seen holding the bottle again and making another swinging motion. JTBC reported that similar actions appeared to occur several times during the incident.
The man, identified as A, claims that he was surrounded by three men who blocked the passage and threatened him with a soju bottle. He also alleged that he was injured on the hand while attempting to protect himself.
A further claimed that the confrontation began after Seungri and his group raised an issue about him taking photographs. According to A, Seungri also made threatening remarks during the confrontation.
However, Seungri’s side has denied the allegations. His representatives reportedly said that A had initially approached the group and asked to join them because he wanted to discuss a business idea. They said the situation became heated after Seungri declined the request.
Seungri’s side acknowledged that he was holding a soju bottle but denied that there was any physical contact with A. They also denied making threats and pointed out that the two sides exchanged text messages even after the gathering ended.
A filed a complaint against Seungri and others with Gangnam Police Station on August 26. Police are expected to question A after the holiday period as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The allegations remain disputed, and no final determination has been made regarding the claims.
Seungri previously served a prison sentence after being convicted of multiple offenses, including habitual gambling and prostitution-related charges. He was released in February 2023 after serving his sentence.
