Former AOA Member Kwon Mina Revisits Past Bullying Claims in Deleted SNS Post
Former AOA member Kwon Mina has once again spoken about the bullying and mistreatment she says she experienced during her years with the group.
On September 27, Kwon Mina shared a lengthy post on social media discussing how her attitude toward unfair treatment has changed over the years. The post was later deleted after being online for several hours.
In the post, Kwon Mina said she had once found it difficult to refuse requests from other people, even when those requests were unreasonable.
She explained that she would often agree first and only think about the situation afterward, adding that even small compliments she received after helping someone made her happy at the time.
However, she claimed that the situation gradually changed and that she eventually began receiving uncomfortable comments and treatment.
Kwon Mina also made a reference to a period when she said she became emotionally exhausted, writing that her voice became quieter and that she struggled to control her facial expressions. She questioned whether she had been given medication to make her sleep.
“It’s Different From Being Hurt Once”
Kwon Mina acknowledged that an incident that happened 11 years ago might eventually be forgotten if it occurred only once.
However, she emphasized that her experience was different, saying that what happened over a much longer period of time was not something she could simply put behind her.
She did not directly name a specific person in the post. Instead, she said she did not want to focus the discussion solely on “that woman” and explained that she no longer wanted to be seen as someone who could easily be treated unfairly.
She also said that she has become more willing to speak directly, refuse requests and express when she feels uncomfortable.
Kwon Mina Also Criticizes the Legal System
The former AOA member also shared her frustration with South Korea’s legal system.
She questioned whether the law sometimes appears to favor alleged perpetrators and expressed frustration over the burden placed on victims to secure evidence, witnesses and legal representation.
She also criticized the way factors such as diminished mental capacity, accidental offenses and written apologies can affect sentencing.
The entire post was deleted later that day.
AOA Controversy Revisited
Kwon Mina debuted as a member of AOA in 2012 and left the group in 2019.
In 2020, she publicly alleged that she had experienced prolonged bullying during her time in AOA, specifically involving former leader Shin Jimin. The controversy became a major topic in the Korean entertainment industry, and Shin Jimin subsequently left AOA and halted her entertainment activities for a period.
Kwon Mina has recently also spoken publicly about other personal disputes, including an alleged burn injury following a cosmetic skin procedure and disagreements with a medical facility regarding her treatment and membership refund.
Her latest social media post has once again brought attention to the unresolved history surrounding her time with AOA.
