Actor Kim Soo-hyun is set to return to the Philippines in October, marking another step toward resuming his entertainment activities following a lengthy hiatus.
Philippine fashion and lifestyle brand BENCH recently announced through its official social media channels that Kim Soo-hyun will visit Manila on October 2 for an event with local fans.
According to the promotional announcement, Kim will appear at a BENCH event in Manila at 5 p.m. local time. The actor has been working as a model for the Philippine brand, and his upcoming appearance is expected to attract significant attention from his international fanbase.
Kim Soo-hyun Expands His Activities Overseas
The upcoming Philippines appearance comes shortly after Kim Soo-hyun resumed commercial activities, including recent advertising work.
His return to the public spotlight has attracted particular attention because the actor had largely stepped away from entertainment activities following a controversy surrounding his alleged relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron.
The controversy began in March 2025 after the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute released material concerning Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron’s family.
Kim Sae-ron’s family alleged that the two actors had been in a relationship when Kim Sae-ron was still a minor.
Kim Soo-hyun acknowledged that the two had dated but strongly disputed the timeline, stating that their relationship began after Kim Sae-ron had become an adult. He also questioned the authenticity of some recordings and materials released by her family.
Police Close Investigation Without Referral
In May 2025, Kim Sae-ron’s family filed a complaint against Kim Soo-hyun, including allegations related to violations of the Child Welfare Act.
Following an investigation, however, police recently concluded that there was insufficient evidence to establish criminal wrongdoing and decided not to forward the case to prosecutors.
The decision marked an important development in the controversy and came as Kim Soo-hyun began gradually returning to public-facing activities.
