BLACKPINK’s Lisa is giving fans a more personal look at the challenges she faced while building her career outside the group.
A preview for Lisa’s upcoming documentary, Always Lalisa, was released on September 9 through her agency’s official YouTube channel. The documentary traces her journey from her childhood dream of becoming a singer to her current status as one of K-pop’s biggest global stars.
In the preview, Lisa reflects on her decade with BLACKPINK and the close bond she shares with fellow members Jennie, Jisoo and Rosé.
After spending years performing as part of the group, Lisa also opened up about what it was like to step out on her own. Her solo career has included music releases as well as an acting role in HBO’s hit series The White Lotus.
Despite her growing international success, Lisa admitted that the experience came with considerable pressure.
“I barely had time to rest,” she said, describing the period as difficult and emotionally demanding. People around her reportedly encouraged her not to push herself so hard, but Lisa said she continued to challenge herself because she believed she could handle it.
“I want to see what else I can accomplish,” Lisa said in the documentary preview. “I’m trying to find myself — a new version of me.”
The documentary also touches on the unique pressures faced by K-pop stars. Lisa previously spoke about how being photographed by paparazzi while dating can affect an idol’s popularity, highlighting the intense scrutiny surrounding the private lives of K-pop celebrities.
Directed by Sue Kim, Always Lalisa is scheduled to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11. The documentary will receive a worldwide theatrical release, including IMAX screenings, on October 12 and will also be available through YouTube Premium.
For Lisa, the documentary offers fans a closer look beyond the stage — revealing the pressure, ambition and personal growth behind her transformation from BLACKPINK member to global solo star.
