Former BIGBANG member Seungri, whose real name is Lee Seung-hyun, is reportedly under police investigation following an assault complaint filed by a man in his 30s.
According to reports, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul received a complaint against Seungri on August 26. The complainant is seeking criminal action against the former singer over an alleged case of special assault.
The incident reportedly took place at a restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul, where Seungri and the man were having a meal together. Police are currently reviewing the allegations and investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Seungri, 36, originally made his debut as a member of BIGBANG in 2006 and enjoyed a successful career as both a singer and entertainer.
However, his career came to an abrupt end following the 2019 Burning Sun scandal, which became one of South Korea’s biggest entertainment controversies. Seungri was subsequently prosecuted on multiple charges, including habitual gambling, arranging prostitution and embezzlement.
South Korea’s Supreme Court ultimately upheld a prison sentence of one year and six months. Seungri left BIGBANG following the scandal and was released from Yeoju Prison in February 2023.
Since his release, he has occasionally been spotted at events and clubs overseas, including in Cambodia, drawing continued attention from fans and the Korean media.
The latest allegations are now being investigated by police, and further details regarding the incident have yet to be established.
