An individual who was prosecuted for distributing false video content involving IVE member Jang Wonyoung has been sentenced to imprisonment, according to her agency, Starship Entertainment.
Starship Entertainment announced on September 9 that it has taken additional legal action against individuals who have allegedly posted malicious and defamatory content targeting Jang Wonyoung and other artists under the agency.
In an official statement, Starship said it has been continuously monitoring online platforms and social media for activities including the spread of false information, defamation, insults, sexual harassment, malicious attacks, and the creation or distribution of manipulated or fabricated videos involving its artists.
The agency also revealed that one of the defendants prosecuted for crimes involving the distribution of false video content was recently sentenced to an actual prison term by the court.
“Throughout the investigation and trial, we responded firmly to the case,” Starship said, adding that it would continue to pursue legal responsibility against serious violations of its artists’ rights under a zero-tolerance policy.
The agency also announced that it had filed additional complaints against so-called “cyber wreckers” and other individuals who have repeatedly posted malicious content targeting Jang Wonyoung.
According to Starship, the latest legal action includes cases involving the repeated publication and distribution of false claims about Jang Wonyoung, as well as the deliberate editing or distortion of video footage to create false impressions about her personality, attitude, or behavior.
The agency emphasized that it would continue collecting evidence even in cases where the facts have already been objectively confirmed but the same or similar false claims are repeatedly reposted.
Starship further warned that its legal monitoring would not be limited to the original creators of malicious content. Accounts and channels that repeatedly redistribute such material may also face civil and criminal action.
The agency said it will continue taking legal measures to protect Jang Wonyoung and other artists under its management from serious violations of their rights.
