‘Street World Fighter: Director’s War’ Kicks Off Its First Team Battle Featuring Taeyong and Bailey
Mnet’s Street World Fighter: Director’s War is heading into a new stage as the competition introduces its first-ever team battle.
The fifth episode, airing on September 15, will feature a special mission centered around solo artists NCT 127’s Taeyong and ALLDAY PROJECT’s Bailey. The competing choreographers will be challenged to interpret each artist’s new music and turn it into a complete performance.
For the first time in the show, the eight remaining choreographers will compete in teams of two.
Among the contestants is Jung Min-jun, who survived the previous “Last Stage: 24H” mission. Despite having no previous experience creating K-pop performances, Jung initially struggled to find his place during the team selection process.
In an unexpected turn of events, however, he teamed up with Kasper, a choreographer with whom he had previously exchanged harsh criticism during an earlier mission.
The four matchups have now been finalized following an intense selection process.
For Taeyong’s mission, the experienced duo of Bada and Baek Gu-young will face the highly individualistic team of Nine and BabyZoo.
Meanwhile, Bailey’s mission will feature Shimizu and In-gyu, a combination known for their K-pop performance experience, against the unexpected pairing of Jung Min-jun and Kasper.
The mission is expected to be particularly challenging, as the choreographers must satisfy both Taeyong, a 10-year K-pop veteran, and Bailey, an internationally recognized choreographer.
As the teams develop their performances, differences in creative direction are reportedly leading to tension and clashes between some of the members.
The stakes are also high. The losing team from each matchup will be sent back to the “Last Stage: 24H” elimination round, putting their place in the competition at risk once again.
The fifth episode of Street World Fighter: Director’s War airs September 15 at 10 p.m. KST on Mnet and tvN.
